General Questions

Do I need to have a LinkedIn profile to activate and use LinkedIn Learning?

No, an existing LinkedIn profile is not required to activate your LinkedIn Learning account, nor is it necessary to create one for activation.

If you already have a LinkedIn profile, you can choose whether or not to connect it to your LinkedIn Learning account. Connecting the two allows any certifications you earn through LinkedIn Learning to be automatically added to your LinkedIn profile, helping you stand out to potential employers. However, this is completely optional.

What happens if I already have a LinkedIn Learning account?

If you have an existing LinkedIn Learning account, that does not impact the access you are eligible for through SIUC. It is your choice whether you continue with your existing account or utilize the one provided by the University.

Is there a mobile app?

Yes, LinkedIn Learning offers an app that allows you to learn on the go. Simply search for "LinkedIn Learning" in the App Store or Google Play Store.

Alternatively, you can use the links below to download the app directly for your device:

 Once the app is installed, log in with your desktop credentials to start learning wherever you are. The app features a few differences, including an "audio-only" mode, which you can activate within each course. This feature is perfect for situations where listening is more convenient than watching the video content.

What is the difference between the Learning Paths and Collections?

Learning Paths are curated collections of courses and videos, organized by professionals to guide you through in-depth topics. They include quizzes and learning reminders to support your progress and are designed to be completed in a specific sequence.

Collections offer a flexible way to organize courses and videos around a particular topic. Unlike Learning Paths, they don’t follow a set structure and can be explored in any order, allowing for a more personalized learning experience.

What are weekly goals on LinkedIn Learning?

LinkedIn Learning allows you to set weekly goals, helping prioritize your learning by dedicating time each day and week to complete courses. You can also track your progress with the progress bar on your homepage, providing a clear view of how you're advancing toward your goals.

Can I connect LinkedIn Learning to my regular LinkedIn Account later on?

Yes! If your LinkedIn accounts were never connected or were disconnected, they can be easily connected or reconnected at any time.

Using LinkedIn Learning

How do I change the language on my LinkedIn Learning account?

Desktop

  1. Click Me in the upper right corner of your LinkedIn Learning homepage.

  2. Click Language in the dropdown.
  3. In the Language section of the Manage Your Account page, select the language in which you wish to view content.

Mobile 

  1. Within the mobile app, tap the My Learning tab.
  2. Tap Your Name.
  3. Tap the Settings icon in the upper right corner of the screen.
  4. Tap Content Language and select the language in which you wish to view content.

Note: Changing your language preference for LinkedIn Learning content will not change your language display for LinkedIn.com. Learn more about updating your general LinkedIn language preferences.

Can I download content to view it when I'm offline?

Yes. To watch a course offline, simply connect to the internet, navigate to the course you want to download, and click the 'download' button. The course will be saved to your device, allowing you to watch it without an internet connection, such as during a flight or in areas without internet access.

Can I save content to watch later?

Yes. To save a course or video, simply click the 'Save' button next to it in the search results or at the top right of the course/video page when it's open. You can find this content later by opening the 'Saved' tab under 'My Learning.'

Can I download and/or print course completion certificates?

Yes. Within your learning history, you can navigate to any completed course and click the 'more' button located on the right edge. From here, you can 'add to profile' or 'download certificate' to save a digital file or print out physically.

Am I able to control what learning information is displayed on my LinkedIn profile?

Yes, your LinkedIn Learning course completions will not show on your LinkedIn profile without your explicit consent and active choice to do so.

You can also choose to remove course completions from your profile at any time.

Where can I find and view my learning history?

After logging into your LinkedIn Learning account, look under the 'me' button at the top right of the page and you will be able to find and select 'Learning History' to view your learning history.
